Saint Lucie County School Meals are...

The National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs were established to safeguard the health and
well-being of our nation's children by offering nutritious  meals at school that are a part of the child's
total educational experience. School meals allow a student to obtain a balanced meal at a reasonable cost.  Children from families
whose income is at or below the Income Eligibility guidelines may be eligible for free or reduced price
lunch and breakfast by completing an application at their child's school center.
When a school district agrees to participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program,
it must, by law follow the established meal pattern.  The meal patters are designed to meet one-third
of the (RDA) Recommended Dietary Allowances for children.

Nutrition To Go:
Turkey breasts is the leanest meat of all.  A 2.5-ounce serving (without skin) contains just 135 calories
and less than a gram of fat.  Even with the skin on, 3.5 ounces of turkey breast supplies just 153 calories
and 3 grams of fat.  Dark meat contains more fat, but without skin it's still quite low - about 4 grams per
3.5-ounces per serving a tasty morsel for parents.
